P. M. Meles Humiliates Himself Publicly
(Sound file excerpts and transcript)

As bizarre as this may sound, it is true. As can be heard on the short excerpt sound files attached herein, Prime Minister Meles, disguised(!) as a person named “Abebe" from Ethiopia, phones in on a live VOA television broadcast—and proceeds to ask two questions of the Eritrean Ambassador!

What compelled P.M. Meles to humiliate himself so, what made him to stoop so low as to “disguise” himself and ask publicly what appear to be meaningless questions—(especially when they come from a head of government), indeed, whether he is of sound mind are questions that can be answered by him or his close associates. It seems clear, however, that he is floundering blindly, completely detached from reality. What is troubling, sad and of great concern to Ethiopians is that the country is just drifting along, ever downward. That Ethiopia is being “governed” and the interests of its people “represented” by leaders such as these, remains to be the injustice of injustices and how much more it can bear, the question of questions.

Verbatim transcript of the actual questions that P.M. Meles posed to the Eritrean Ambassador disguised as “Abebe” from Ethiopia:

Shaka Salli (VOA presenter): Good evening Abebe from Ethiopia, you are welcome to Straight Talk Africa…
“Abebe”: Hello, I would like to ask a question to the Ambassador of Eritrea…
S. Salli: Go ahead please… Could you please turn your television set volume down because we are getting an echo on the line?
“Abebe”: See my question is… I have two questions..
S. Salli: Go ahead…
“Abebe”: The Ambassador has shown you two maps with three lines: One, the Ethiopian claims line, second the Eritrean claim line and the third one in black, the arbiter's decision. Would you please ask the Ambassador to show you, on the basis of the black line, where Badme is and if Badme has been assigned to Eritrea on that map. That's my first question…My second question to the Ambassador is his President, is claimed to have said at one point that …Eritrea's withdrawal from Badme is as likely as the sun setting in the East and he is also said to have claimed that Zalambesa and Alitena are sovereign territories of Eritrea. How does he respond to this now that the UN has decided…that the arbitral tribunal has decided that this belongs to Ethiopia? Thank you.
S. Salli: Thank you very much, and of course …(indistinct)…that black, black line has to be…
Eritrean Ambassador: Thank you, thank you, the voice sounds to me to be Prime Minister Meles to be frank with you…I am positive, I have met him so many times, I think the question coming from him I am also delighted…

What do you make of this?! Who was he addressing really and what is this all supposed to mean anyway? (There is no question that it is him.)
